Azarus Anime Release Date Details: When Is It Coming Out?

There is no talk of the best anime without naming Shinichirō Watanabe, who is known as the “master.” Fans all over the world love Watanabe’s groundbreaking shows like Cowboy Bebop, Space Dandy, and Samurai Champloo. Watanabe’s work is also known for his natural flair in style and music, as well as for exploring mature themes in a medium that is usually thought of as just for kids. Many anime fans say that Cowboy Bebop is the best anime show of all time, and it’s clear that the show had an impact on pop culture in general.

Now, Adult Swim is working with MAPPA and Sola Entertainment to bring you Lazarus, a new anime series from the master director. But that’s not all—Chad Stahelski, who directed John Wick, is also working on the project and will help plan the action scenes and arrange them. Lazarus has quickly become one of the most awaited anime series since it was announced. If you’re just as excited about a new Shinichiro Watanabe project, here’s everything we know about it so far to get you even more excited.

When Azarus Anime Is Going To Be Out?

Nobody has said when Lazarus will come out and since that’s how anime usually works, we probably won’t hear for sure until it’s almost time. But since there is already a video and a lot of the animation looks like it has been done, we can expect to hear about the release date soon, most likely at the beginning of next year.

Who Is Making Lazarus?

Shinichirō Watanabe will direct all of Lazarus’s episodes by himself. This is the first time since 2012’s slice-of-life anime Kids on a Slope that the artist has done that. The famous person who made Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo has worked for Warner Bros. before on Blade Runner: Blackout 2022 and a part of The Animatrix. In a press statement, Watanabe talked about how excited he was and said,

“As I embark on this creative journey, I can’t help but feel that this project will serve as a culmination of my career so far. I hope you enjoy it.”

Chad Stahelski and his stunt business, 87 Ronin, will plan the action scenes for the show. The director of John Wick is known for coming up with creative ways to arrange fight scenes. He has also done stunt work for many movies, including all of the Wachowski movies, which are known for their over-the-top anime-style action scenes. The show will be animated by MAPPA, the company that made hit shows like Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen. Sola Entertainment will make them. Together with Adult Swim, they are also making Rick and Morty: The Anime and The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rings.

Lazarus Storyline Details: What To Expect!

In the world of Lazarus, which takes place in 2052, all sickness and pain have been wiped out and everyone lives in peace and health. But there is a dark secret that could wipe out all the good work that has been done so far. Dr. Skinner, a Nobel Prize-winning neuroscientist, created Hapuna, a drug that heals all illnesses. It turns out to be a Trojan Horse when Skinner comes back as a sign of bad things to come and says that everyone who has taken it will die in three years. Five spies from all over the world are brought together to find a cure for Dr. Skinner’s drug before time runs out and all people die. Shinichirō Watanabe is known for combining different types of stories to make them more interesting. Lazarus sounds like it will do the same thing. It sounds like it will be a story with very high stakes that explores existential questions about humanity’s future and the path it’s taking.

The official synopsis released by Adult Swim reads:

The year is 2052 – an era of unprecedented peace and prosperity prevails across the globe. The reason for this: mankind has been freed from sickness and pain. Nobel Prize-winning neuroscientist Dr. Skinner has developed a miracle cure-all drug with no apparent drawbacks called Hapuna.

Three years later, the world has moved on. But Dr. Skinner has returned – this time, as a harbinger of doom. Skinner announces that Hapuna has a short half-life. Everyone who has taken it will die approximately three years later. Death is coming for this sinful world – and coming soon.

As a response to this threat, a special task force of 5 agents is gathered from across the world to save humanity from Skinner’s plan. This group is called “Lazarus.” Can they find Skinner and develop a vaccine before time runs out?

Is There A Trailer For Lazarus?

At the Adult Swim Festival’s “Toonami on the Green” event at Comic-Con International on July 23, 2023, the first video for Lazarus was shown. The show was also announced. Electronic jazz music in the trailer sets the mood for the show, and the stylish and fluid animation creates a sci-fi setting. The action choreography is also very good, and it goes with the music. The trailer mostly shows what looks like a jail break scene with a young man running away, which gives us a taste of the smooth and jazzy action we can expect from the show. It also gets us our first look at what seems to be the show’s main character, a cool and tough young man with wavy black hair, sharp eyes, and a cool jacket like all of Shinichirō Watanabe’s main characters. We can also see how the other characters look.
