The Boys Season 4 Release Date: When Will the Supes Return?

Fans have been begging for season 4 of The Boys ever since season 3 ended in an exciting way. We probably won’t be getting the next movie any time soon, but luckily we have had the spin-off Gen V to keep us busy in the meantime. Anyway, based on what the group has said recently, it looks like season 4 will be well worth the wait.

“It’s my favourite season we’ve ever shot,” Jack Quaid, who stars as Hughie Campbell on the hit Amazon Prime series, previously said of The Boys season 4 in an interview with Esquire“It’s a very intense season. You really get to mine the depth of every character—and it still has those ‘What just happened?!’ moments.”

He continued: “Audiences are still going to be surprised and will be really into the direction that it takes. We take some chances that I think are really awesome. It’s our best one yet.”

While story details for The Boys season 4 are mostly being kept secret, the finale of Gen V season 1 gave us a sneak peek at how things might go in the new season. Homelander’s (Anthony Starr) cameo was the biggest clue we had for how things might connect.

Without further ado, here is everything we know about season 4 of The Boys so far.

The Boys Season 4’s Release Date Speculation

Since filming for season 4 ended in April 2023, we thought it would come out at the very latest in late 2023. But at this point, that doesn’t look very likely.

Showrunner Eric Kripke had said before that the show wouldn’t start until the WGA strike was over. The problem has been fixed, but the SAG-AFTRA walkout is still going on.

Our best guess is that the show will be here in early 2024.

On June 10, 2022, The Boys was officially picked up for a fourth season. This was just one week after the third season debuted on Prime Video to good reviews and lots of fan activity.

Some fans thought that the show was almost at its natural end in season 3, but when Radio Times asked Eric Kripke about it, he wouldn’t say anything because he had said before that Supernatural would end after five seasons, but it ended after fifteen.

He said: “As the person who was literally the most wrong in the world of how long a show should go – like, there’s no showrunner in the history of the medium who has ever been so wrong about when his show was going to end – I would say that I’ve learned well from that mistake and I don’t really give away where my endpoints are anymore.”

In season 4 of The Boys, the main group is once again made up of Karl Urban as Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Erin Moriarty as Starlight, and Anthony Starr as Homelander. Jensen Ackles has already hinted that he might be back as Soldier Boy in season 4 of The Boys. It’s also likely that the following group members will be back for the next season of The Boys:

  • Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk
  • Tomer Capon as Frenchie
  • Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko
  • Chace Crawford as The Deep
  • Jessie T. Usher as A-Train

The Boys Season 4 Story & Plot Details

From the end of season 3, it’s easy to see what will happen in season 4. Neuman’s road to becoming Vice President of the United States has made her the new girl that The Boys want the most. After leaving Vought, Starlight will work full-time with the team. Butcher, on the other hand, has 12–18 months to live because he uses Temp-V. Homelander will become even more dangerous after the public likes him killing a Starlight fan. He will also help raise Ryan and look for new members of The Seven after Black Noir dies, Maeve is thought to be dead, and Starlight leaves.

Even though the original character died, Black Noir seems to have an interesting part in the new season as well. An early tip for his plot came from a tweet from Vought Industries that said Black Noir’s death was a fake. Now that it is known for sure that Black Noir did die, Vought will probably try to hide this in some way. This could bring up the big idea of cloning the character, which is a big part of the story’s end.

For obvious reasons, there is no official plot summary for The Boys season 4. However, it looks like the story will continue to push the limits of what is possible in television. Anthony Starr recently gave a sneak peek at a memorable scene in season 4 of The Boys. He called it “the strangest thing I’ve ever done.” At the end of season 3 of The Boys, it seemed like Homelander would act even more crazy, and Starr’s words about what will happen in season 4 seem to back that up.

Is The Boys Season 4 The Final Season?

Eric Kripke said in February 2023 that season 4 of The Boys won’t be the last one.

The showrunner had hinted at his role in the next chapter by giving the title of the last episode of the fourth installment, which led some to think he was celebrating the start of the end. Kripke recently went back on Twitter to reassure worried fans that he didn’t mean the last episode: “I’m here to prep and direct the season 4 finale.” It’s not the end of the story; there will be more!”

Is there a ‘The Boys’ Season 4 Trailer?

As of now, there are no trailers for The Boys, but the advertising effort lasts all year. We always know what’s going on in the world of The Boys thanks to the Vought International YouTube account. They recently talked about what happened to Homelander and Ryan after the end of Season 3.
